9th February: Siem Reap, Cambodia
I was feeling pretty exhausted still. Although a bit better than yesterday, it was time to be sensible and chill today. I still had a productive hour or two after breakfast getting some more bookings sorted, but it was lovely to not be rushing around chasing temples!

We decided to make use of the rare chance to use a swimming pool and headed up to the roof. It was just us for two hours, so we sat back on sun loungers (although mainly in the shade) reading on kindles and even drinking a mojito. I like having this pool and the chance to low-key splash about. I completely lost my confidence with swimming a decade ago and just doing a few short and slow lengths felt really positive. Unfortunately, I also suddenly got dizzy and light-headed, so that was the end of that for today!
Kaja went to get us some delicious food from the restaurant over the road. We’ve not tired of food in southeast Asia yet like we did in China, although it has only been 5 weeks so far. The balance and freshness of the flavours is something I always crave and today’s tofu amok and vegetable stir fry hit the spot.

I was still dizzy a few hours later, so no heading to Angkor today. However, we will go back to see more tomorrow and, anyhow, two one-day passes would’ve been more than the three day tickets we bought. We’ve already arranged with Pear to take us to all of the sites we’ve missed so far.
After dark, I felt up for a little walk. We didn’t go far but found all sorts of night markets and streets catering to tourists, including the infamous Pub Street. Not much was happening at 18:30 on a Sunday, aside from identikit red-faced old white couples drinking warm beers. It goes without saying that it’s not really our thing, although I do really fancy a game of pool!
